You two have created a peaceful sanctuary here that only illumintes the rugged beauty of this Island.

We just wanted you to know how much we
appreciated all the little details, it's very clear you've put a lot of time and thought into this place.

Janet your warmth and openness made us feel so welcome, plus all of your little tips on the area helped us to experience things we wouldn't have otherwise.

We feel so sad to leave, but comforted to know the Bali Cottage is here awaiting our return!

We have very much enjoyed staying at the Bali Cottage. The ambiance is so peaceful and soothing. Also the sunrises and Island breezes, lulling of the frogs and waves lapping the shoreline plus your hospitality was warming.
A warm thank you (Mahalo)

It was seven magical days. Janet and Tim ( and Meeka) were terrific. We snorkeled. Went to the zoo. Ate at Kalapana Cafe a lot. The cottage was so relaxing we didn't go out that much, but it didn't matter--we didn't need or even wanna leave to have fun. The place has everything and more, but what really made it special for us were the hosts; mahalo.

The Bali Cottage is fantastic. It has everything you will need and is located in what is by far the the most beautiful area on The Big Island. My wife and I are not into the big resort thing. We like something a little more private. The Bali Cottage was perfect. The best way I could describe it is, it was like staying at a friends beach house. That's the way Janet and Tim made it feel. They were always available whenever we needed help or had a question. And though they live right behind the cottage in their beautiful Bali style home, we had all the privacy we could want. My advice to anyone reading this review, if you are thinking about a vacation to the The Big Island and have the opportunity to book your stay at The Bali Cottage, DO IT!!!!!

I have been married to the same woman for 42years. She has accompanied me literally ALL OVER THE WORLD! We stayed at The Bali Cottage at Kehena Beach for 8 days...we both felt it wasn't long enough! The Bali Cottage was perfect, spotless, no detail was spared. Our host was what everyone hopes for ...Welcoming, charming, at tentative, and being local knows the out of the way places and how to get there unlike some guidebooks. She was honest about the "Clothing Optional" beach and tells all her guests who feel uncomfortable there about another "Secret Beach" where you can have the place all to yourself! You also can go down to Kehena Beach in the morning and it is ALWAYS empty. We watched the sun rise on the beach while the spinner dolphins jumped, we even saw a Humpback Whale and her calf!!! This was only 75ft out in the water! There is so much to do here, Kehena Beach, “Secret Beach, Shipman Beach, Pohoiki, Kaimu Beach, Kumukahi Lighthouse (ALL HAVE SAND…Where you can RELAX!)…I could go on, but then I would sound like a guidebook. My point is…THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH TO DO HERE, to run out of things to do. My wife and I haven’t had this much fun since we made our two children. The weather, the sights, the people…We felt like Honeymooners all over again. This place was a Bargain! We even told Janet she is not charging enough; she told us a lot of her guest make the same comment. This place books up fast and for a good reason! It’s PARADISE any way you look at it. This part of the Big Island feels more like what Maui felt like in the mid 60’s. I am a Marine, Master Gunnery Sergeant (MGySgt) and am very Marine looking. Yet the Hippies & locals were nicer than anywhere else in all of the State of Hawaii. Here it really is “to each..his own” Very non-judgmental. All in all this was the Perfect Vacation Destination.

Dear Janet and Tim,

We are writing this sitting on the black sand beach, and while
I am trying to stay in the beauty of this moment, we are
already planning our next trip back!

What a glorious place for our Honeymoon!
From your welcome hugs to all the little details;
(flowers, bamboo for luck, our cute little privacy screen).
Everything was done to make us feel welcome and at home.
Mission accomplished!!

Seeing whales as we ate our breakfast was a great way to
begin the New Year.

We're off to our next adventure, but without a doubt, when
we think of Hawaii in the future, our minds, eye's will return
to the Bali Cottage.

December 19th 2009,

We had an amazing time at our stay in the Bali Cottage.
Everything was wonderful and exceeded our expectations.
Eventually we would love to come back and do it all over again.
The Black Sand beach was beautiful, as were the Tide Pools and Mango Groves we drove through on the way there.
I had no idea the Big Island had so much to offer!
You both have been so helpful, we really appreciate the sincere hospitality you've shown us. Once again, thanks for allowing us to have such a beautiful vacation here.

Tim and Janet,
What a wonderful time we had at your beautiful Bali Cottage! Our two weeks there proved to be an unforgettable experience! We are so grateful for everything you did to take such good care of us. The Bali Cottage is surely a one-in-a-million place we will never forget. Waking up to the sunrise over the Pacific Ocean every day was simply amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation and you and Tim are outstanding hosts. Thank you so much for providing such a relaxing and wonderful experience!

What an amazing place!
After staying in a cottage in Hana, after the long drive, I thought cottages were all of similar standard.
How wrong I was!!
The Bali Cottage is boutique luxury- with the ocean
You have both done a fantastic job here.
Mahalo for "everything"

We honestly wish we planned to stay here longer, we love it.
We will have to come back when the Hot Tub is in
We could have stayed here for our whole Big Island visit!-"But we gottage keep moving along."

Thank you Janet and Tim for a great week.

Even though the website makes the cottage look beautiful, it's not until you spend time here that it truly reveals itself.
You were both great host's, you thought of everything.

To the next visitor's, we would highly recommend a boat tour to the volcano with Melvin Brown, Pohoiki Lava Tours, he is a legendary Captain on the island (quite a character) and the trip is not for the faint of heart. This is a "raw rugged" experience that you will never forget! The number is (808) 965-9879 or ask his wife Patty at the food shack down the road. Kalapana Cafe.
Also the Black sand beach is fantastic, for people watching and diving with Manta Ray's in Kona is incredible.

This cottage is the perfect home base for all the adventures.
Thanks again for for being so welcoming.
Everything about the cottage exceeded our expectations ten fold!!

Dear Janet,
It's difficult to describe how wonderful our vacation was, but we will try.
First of all, waking up to that fantastic view right outside the cottage is incredible.
The Pacific ocean, the blue skies, the swaying coconut trees is literally heaven on earth.
Being able to walk to that fantastically private black sand beach was also something we look forward to every morning.
Everything in the cottage were beautiful and practical. Even the coqui frogs were wonderful, the songs of their singing put us right to sleep every night!
I wish there was a soundtrack of their song that we can purchase to buy back to the mainland!

To the guest's reading this, here are some of the most must see and must do's:

- Lava viewing at the end of route 130. Get there after dark to watch the worl being born.

- Snorkel at Kapoho tide pools. Wear reef shoes and marvel at the little fishies.

- Try Loco Moco at Pahoa Village Cafe. So fattening and so tasty.

- Drive to Volcano National Park and check out some amazing scenery.

ENJOY!

Mahalo Janet and Tim for sharing your lovely oceanside retreat with us.
We can't get over the gorgeous view and the lovely decor- call HGTV immediately!! All of the thoughtful extras you include- fruit, coffee, hair dryer, flashlights dvd's- made us feel right at home- if home was a designer Balinese bungalow overlooking the ocean in the middle of paradise!
We had two fantastic massages with Stefanie- nothing could be better than
getting a relaxing massage here while listening to the waves crash...
thank you so much for the referral. No luck on the lava viewing for us last night, the winds were blowing the smoke towards the viewing area... alas!
We will just have to come back for another stay with next time we visit my parents in Kona! We got a great view of the lava from the end of the road though- close enough!! Thank you so much, we hope to visit you again soon!

We arrived here on our first trip ever to Hawaii, exhausted after nearly 48 hrs without sleep, and found this place to be an absolute sanctuary.
The location is unbelievably beautiful, the cottage exquisitely furnished and pretty comprehensively fitted out, with everything from mosquito repellent to snorkel gear.
My husband is Brazilian and he felt immediately at home at this beautiful and relaxed environment, which is a world away from Honolulu.
It's really hard to find anything wrong with place and would and will recommend it to anyone I know looking for somewhere to stay.

A big Texas Thanks to you both for rolling out the red carpet with your generous hospitlaity and for sharing your little slice of heaven on earth with us.
Your Bali Cottage on Kehena Beach is the best medicine for those who want to get away and feel the "TRUE HAWAIIAN" experience.
Loved all the adventures from the Snorkeling in Tide Pools and watching the Lava flows, then to the Akaka Falls, the black sand beaches and then grilling fresh Mahi Mahi and Ahi Tuna on the Lani for dinner... The views from the balcony of the cottage are so breathtaking and that you can see the sun rise and set is just beyond words. Just wasn't enough time on this trip to enjoy more time with you both and have more adventures, but that just means we will most certainly be making plans for the next trip.
Your Bali Cottage and hospitality has any resort on any of the Islands beat hands down. ....Roy and I have not stopped talking about your place since we arrived back in Texas.

My wife & I finally made it to Hawaii after many years raising our kids. We are used to staying in Hotels and this was our 1st time with a Vacation Rental. I have to say...It had to have been the BEST stay EVER...ANYWHERE! The Bali Cottage truly felt like our Home away from Home! We plan on making this our yearly retreat/destination. Our hosts were always available to answer questions and offer suggestions. Yet they respected our privacy and it felt like we had the property all to ourselves. Wakeing up each morning, sitting up in bed and looking out at the blue Pacific Ocean, watching an IO Hawk sitting on a Coconut tree right off the balcony while we drank our morning coffee. The beauty of this area makes one feel like they are on a totally different island in a different time (more laid back, truly ALOHA Living) Not one detail was overlooked! If more Hotels & Vacation rentals did it like this one did...More people would travel and see the world! This proved to us that you can travel to Hawaii, enjoy swimming, snorkeling, exploring, dining, Lounging and lots more...all without having to mortgage your house to do it! We are definetly going to tell our friends and family about this little JEWEL!

Rick and I had such an amazing time at Bali Cottage just listening to the waves and sitting on the Lanai looking out to the sea that we missed it the day we left!

The Cottage was very well decorated and thought through in detail making it a piece of Bali in Hawaii! We shall be back and will recommend many friends to come...

Also built great friendship with Janet and Tim that we hope will last a long time to come!

My husband and I come to the Big Island to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The "Bali Cottage" has everything we could hope for. It's the "perfect getaway" without having to travel too far. The cottage is fabulously decorated and we were welcomed with such aloha. It's better than a 5-star hotel. I only wish we had more time.

We had a great time here on the Big Island staying at the wonderful & beautiful Bali Cottage. We are so thankfu that we stumbled on this amazing place. From the moment I saw the website, I knew we had to stay here. The Bali Cottage is the needle in the haystack- more relaxing, cozy, comfortable. and hospitable than any other place we have stayed.
Thank you so much for the suggestions of "must-sees on our short trip to the Big Island. The only thing bad about our trip is not having enough time to spend here and see all of the beautiful island.

We just spent a wonderful week in Hawaii, staying in the Bali Cottage of the Big Island. The cottage is a gem - beautiful, efficiently laid out and very well equipped with more than one would expect for such an affordable prive. We were promptly welcomed by our gracious and very helpful host. This place was thoughtfully supplied with useful information about shopping and touring the island and surrounding 'hotspots'. The place itself is situated in a great area - steps from a very eclectic, fun, and exciting beach. An interesting area that we really enjoyed.
All in all, it was a great experience. We are recommending the Bali Cottage to all our family and friends and hope we can return, too.
Thanks again!

We stayed at the Bali Cottage for three nights on our honeymoon and they were the three most magical, enchanted nights on the whole trip. We fell asleep every night to the music of the tree frogs chirping and woke up every morning to a delicious organic breakfast (well worth the extra cost) delivered right to our door by Janet, our gracious and helpful hostess. The area is enchanting and there's lots to do. We were especially impressed by the privacy and roominess, and the romantic, beautiful and very tasteful decor. We will have to come back in the winter to see the humpback whales.

We got to stay in an out of the way corner of the big island that not many tourists get to truly experience, and got far more enjoyment (for far less money) than we could have expected from a megaresort.

Mahalo Janet!

What a pleasant suprise to have stayed at such a beautiful place on such short notice. My husband and I are frequent visitors to the Big Island, for my family resides here as well. We have done countless searches with various sites (such as craigslist) and have found that most vacation homes are not at ALL what they claim to be. This summer, however, we stumbled upon The Bali Cottage and decided to give it a try. We were in complete awe of how beautiful this place truly was...

The bamboo floors, the eastern decor...the inviting hosts...made this one of the BEST stays we've ever had on this island. I cannot explain how extraordinary everything was...compared to the countless visits we've made to this island, this ranks among the top 2. (especially for the price-says my husband)

Greeted with a delicious breakfast, and catered by such loving hosts...David and I have never felt such a family -oriented environment in our getaways to this island.

Staying with this family, at their guest house/cottage....was a dream come true...Janet...or (auntie), you can guarentee we will be back.

Mahalo so much for one of the best stays we've ever had in Hawaii...
youre the best.

I cannot thank you enough...
