Flying into Hilo or (ITO)
Estimated time: (35-45 mins)
•There is only one road that exits the airport. At the end of Airport road, go left (West) at the light onto Highway 11.
•Continue on Hwy 11 until you are out of town. Before 6 miles, get in left lane. Make a left onto Highway 130 at the sign that reads “Pahoa 10.” There are 2 left turn lanes.
•Hwy 130 bypasses the town of Pahoa, which is the last place to buy supplies or groceries. There is a small shopping mall on the north side of Pahoa, which includes the Malama Market grocery store. In Pahoa town there is also a health food store called Island Naturals, as well as some good restaurants, ATM machines and a Post Office.
•Stop in Pahoa or continue on Hwy 130 ten miles past Pahoa and turn left about 1/4 mile past the green church on the left (mile marker 20) towards Kalapana and then immediately right, towards the ocean.
•After 1/3 mile you will reach a T-junction. Turn left at the T-junction (towards Kapoho). This is Coastal Highway 137: Kalapana-Kapoho Beach Rd. (known locally as the Red Road).
•In 3.1 miles, Bali Cottage will be on your left, just past mile marker 20. Look for the double black metal and bamboo gates w/ Rapa Nui's (Tiki Heads) above on the left hand side. It is the last house in the subdivision. The address on the mailbox.
Flying into Kona or (KOA)

•Go left out of the airport and drive north on Hwy 19. Continue on Hwy 19 through Waimea and all the way down the Hamakua Coast until you get to Hilo.
•Turn right onto Hwy 11 at the intersection where you'll see Ken's House of Pancakes at the corner. On your right, the sign says “Volcano 30 miles.”

****The Bali Cottage is a 2.5 hour scenic drive from Kona, which is half way around the Big Island via either the northern, southern routes or Saddle Road the center road between Moana Loa & Moana Kea. On your first visit, we recommend the northern route through Waimea and down the Hamakua Coast.****
